ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Brett Hull made a quiet return to St. Louis on Monday night, going scoreless in the Dallas Stars' 4-2 exhibition loss to the Blues.
Hull, the Blues' leading career scorer, signed a three-year free agent deal with the Stars in July. He got his lone shot on goal during a two-man advantage with about 5 1/2 minutes to play, but Jamie McLennan made a pad save on the shot from the left side.
Lubos Bartecko, a 22-year-old prospect likely destined to play in the minor leagues, scored two goals in a 1:53 span of the second period for the Blues. Bartecko scored on a breakaway and then on a deflection of a slapshot from the point by Al MacInnis that put the Blues ahead 3-1 at 4:21 of the period.
Geoff Courtnall added a first-period goal and Daniel Corso wrapped it up with a power-play goal with 2:54 to go for St. Louis (1-1).
Sergey Gusev and Brent Sevryn each scored their first goal of the preseason for Dallas (1-1).
