CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) _ Ashley Berggren scored 16 points and Nicole Vasey scored 15 as Illinois defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay 82-58 in a first-round women's NCAA tournament game Saturday night.

Illinois (19-9), the No. 3 seed in the Mideast Regional, rebounded after losing its last three games, a streak which cost it the Big Ten regular-season title and resulted in a quick exit from the Big Ten tournament.

Fourteenth-seeded Wisconsin-Green Bay (21-9) was hurt by poor shooting and rebounding. The Phoenix shot 31 percent to Illinois' 52 percent and were outrebounded 45-30.

Wisconsin-Green Bay trailed by 22 at halftime, but used a 15-6 run to make it 56-43 with about 10 minutes to play. The Phoenix and the Illini traded baskets over the next three minutes, and Wisconsin-Green Bay could get no closer than 13.

Chari Nordgaard with 21 points was the only player for Wisconsin-Green Bay in double figures. Alison Schultz and Liz Reiman both grabbed six rebounds.
