JERICHO, N.Y. (AP) _ Bruce Crampton of Australia, the leading money-winner on the PGA Senior Tour last year, tapped in a half-inch putt for a birdie two on the second extra hole Wednesday to win the Skins competition of the $300,000 Northville Invitational golf tournament at the Meadow Brook Club.
Crampton, who earned $8,000 on the final hole, wound up the leading winner in the nine-hole competition with $16,000. Chi Chi Rodriguez was second, earning $7,000, and Billy Capser earned $4,000.
Gary Player of South Africa, the fourth member of the competition, failed to win anything.
In the competition, the first three holes were worth $2,000, the second three $3,000 and the final three $4,000. On holes where there was a tie for best score, the money carries over to the next hole and all four golfers again become eligible to win.
Crampton had earlier dropped a 25-foot putt on the fifth hole to collect $8,000, Rodriguez made an 18-foot putt on the seventh hole for $7,000 and Casper holed a 20-footer on the second.
