SEATTLE (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 27-year-old man with first-degree murder and illegal firearm possession in the death of a 16-year-old boy in Seattle's South Park neighborhood earlier this year.

SeattlePI.com reports Juan Macias was charged Wednesday after his arrest Saturday.

Police say Dallas Esparza was sitting at a picnic table with his mother near a taco truck Feb. 7 when a group of people approached. Police say Esparza ran but that Macias chased him, shooting Esparza in the head, shoulder, buttocks and foot.

Esparza died days later at Harborview Medical Center.

Police arrested Macias in Seattle for an outstanding warrant and for investigation of possessing stolen property after they allegedly caught him in a stolen car.

During an interview with detectives Macias reportedly said he shot Esparza. He claimed Esparza had robbed him in January.

Macias remains jailed on $2 million bail.
