NEW YORK (AP) _ Brant Brown's dropped fly ball brought cheers 900 miles away at Shea Stadium, where the New York Mets were taking batting practice before playing Montreal on Wednesday night.

A fan behind the Mets' dugout, listening to the radio, kept shouting play-by-play to New York manager Bobby Valentine, who was talking with reporters.

When the fan shouted that Brown dropped what would have been the final out of a Cubs' win, turning it into an 8-7 Milwaukee victory, Valentine hugged Tony Phillips near the batting cage.

``That's neat!'' Valentine said.

Carlos Baerga, who was hitting, started dancing inside the cage. Mets who were walking off the field gave each other high fives.
