Charges against dentist accused of patient assault dismissed
Oct. 31, 2017
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts dentist accused of indecently assaulting female patients during dental procedures no longer faces charges.
Telegram & Gazette reports that charges of indecent assault and battery against 55-year-old Nikhilkumar Patel were dropped Tuesday after prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss.
The charges alleged he squeezed a woman's breast on three occasions during dental procedures in 2015 and 2016.
Prosecutors say the witness did not wish to go forward.
Patel, of Shrewsbury, had been acquitted of similar allegations after two jury trials this year. In September, he was found not guilty of charges he rubbed his genitals against a woman's arm while treating her in his office. A jury in May acquitted Patel of touching a woman's breast during a procedure.
Patel's lawyer says his client has been fully exonerated.
