NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (AP) _ Rush Enterprises Inc. (RUSHA) on Tuesday reported second-quarter net income of $29.4 million.

On a per-share basis, the New Braunfels, Texas-based company said it had profit of 72 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 92 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 74 cents per share.

The commercial vehicle dealership operator posted revenue of $1.35 billion in the period.

Rush Enterprises shares have decreased 15 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $42.99, a climb of 14 percent in the last 12 months.
