LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — A former employee of an upscale Adirondack resort has been charged with stealing more than $130,000 from the business.
State police say 36-year-old Morgan Miller used her business credit card to make $134,000 in unauthorized purchases while working at the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid.
Troopers say the Lake Placid resident was charged Tuesday with grand larceny.
The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports Miller had been the hotel's financial controller since 2005, when the 94-room resort opened.
The resort's manager declined comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
The newspaper reports Miller left the job in August, just before the investigation began.
She's currently operations and finance manager for the Adirondack North Country Association, a regional economic development group.
Miller was released from the Essex County Jail after posting bail. The public defender's office isn't commenting on her charges.
