Oct. 17, 2015
SALEM, Mass. (AP) — The suspect in the slaying of a Swampscott mother whose body was found early this year on a beach is headed to court for a bail hearing.
Prosecutors tell the Daily Item of Lynn (http://bit.ly/1VWUSvX ) that 37-year-old Jason Fleury is scheduled to appear Monday in Salem Superior Court.
Fleury has been charged with murder in the death of 25-year-old Jaimee Mendez. He has been held in jail since pleading not guilty in August.
Mendez was reported missing by her family last November. Her remains were found tangled in lobster traps on King's Beach in Swampscott on Jan. 28.
Fleury told the newspaper in an interview last year he was with Mendez to buy drugs the night she disappeared, but they parted ways and he did not kill her.
