Dow Jumps 100 in Early Trading

NEW YORK (AP) _ The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 100 points in early trading today and is up 88.31 at 9,363.20 just before 10 a.m. EST.
The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 42.73 at 2,364.62.
The S&P 500 Index is up 12 points.
The equities market has been given some room to move higher, with bond market interest rates moving lower.
The yield on the 30-year government bond is sharply lower, on news that Tokyo was working to keep its long-term rates in check.
Overseas markets have been mostly higher today.
One of the big items for market-watchers comes after today's closing bell, with Dell Computer set to release fourth-quarter earnings.
