QUARTZSITE, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a driver killed in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 10 in western Arizona was wanted in California for attempted homicide on a family member.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the wreck occurred Wednesday afternoon after 47-year-old Corey Dixon of Los Angeles refused to stop his vehicle for a state trooper, crossed the median and collided with a big rig.

The wreck occurred 45 miles (72 kilometers) east of the Arizona-California line.

DPS officials say Dixon was wanted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office for allegedly stabbing his 21-year-old daughter following a dispute earlier Wednesday.

Dixon appeared in court on a charge of violating a restraining order Tuesday, but fled the hearing when it was clear the judge was going to order him back to jail.
