EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) _ A gunman opened fire at a Hughes Aircraft plant today, wounding three people and forcing the evacuation of hundreds of others before he was taken into custody. The extent of the victims' injuries was unknown.

Television helicopters showed employees milling about in a parking lot at the plant near Los Angeles International Airport and officers crouched over a handcuffed man on the ground nearby.

Hughes spokesman Kearney Bothwell confirmed that three people were shot and a suspect was in custody. One of the wounded was a security guard.
