Sandwich teen finds $1,300, returns it to owner
Nov. 06, 2013
SANDWICH, Mass. (AP) — A 13-year-old Sandwich boy says he didn't think twice when he found nearly $1,300 in cash while out walking his dog last week.
Jack Sheehan called his mother when he found the money on Oct. 31, to ask her how to find the rightful owner.
"I have morals," he says.
But they only had the initials MCS on deposit slips to go by.
They called police, who determined that the money belonged to the owner of the Mashpee County Store, Mohammad Ahmad.
His brother, Mian Abdul Hafeez, tells the Cape Cod Times (http://bit.ly/1ekxEtf) he thinks Ahmad put the bag of money on the roof of his car while on the way to the bank to make a deposit, then forgot about it.
Ahmad has already given Jack a cash reward.
