The Standard Partners with Regions Hospital to Achieve Excellence in Disability Management
Sep. 12, 2018
PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep 12, 2018--Standard Insurance Company ( The Standard ) recently presented its latest Workplace Possibilities Champions award to Regions Hospital. The award honors employers that have achieved excellence with the Workplace Possibilities program — a unique, proactive approach to help manage absence and disability in the workplace. Regions Hospital, a full-service hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center employing 5,700 people across Minnesota and western Wisconsin, was recognized as the recipient for Q2 2018.
“Regions Hospital is a proactive supporter of the Workplace Possibilities program and truly understands the importance of holistic employee support,” says Brian Kost, senior director of the Workplace Possibilities program at The Standard. “The team at Regions Hospital is committed to facilitating the program and partnering with their Workplace Possibilities consultant to reduce disability incidence in their workplace. Their efforts are a prime example of how this program works to achieve better leave and disability outcomes for employers.”
Using the Workplace Possibilities program, Margaret Nielsen, employee health and wellness lead nurse at Regions Hospital, connects employees with the proper resources and support when dealing with a health condition. Nielsen works with her dedicated Workplace Possibilities consultant to better manage employees on leave, evaluate accommodations and ensure timely returns. The program also makes it easier for Nielsen to help the hospital anticipate when people will be out of the office or returning to work after a disability leave.
“The Workplace Possibilities program has provided a seamless experience for our employees,” Nielsen says. “Since employees are already stressed enough when on a leave, the Workplace Possibilities program helps them feel reassured in knowing we’re working to accommodate them before their return. The program has also made my job easier in helping better anticipate and plan an employee’s return to work.”
The Workplace Possibilities Champions award recognizes employers that are exceeding expectations for their implementation and ongoing partnership with the Workplace Possibilities program. The winning organization is selected based on a list of criteria, which includes:Initiating employee referrals to the program Promoting the program to managers, supervisors and other staff members Partnering with The Standard to customize accommodations for employees Training managers, supervisors and team leaders about the program Excelling in change management
