CUMMINGTON, Mass. (AP) — The man who died in a motorcycle crash in Cummington on Labor Day has been identified as a member of area school committees.

Police say 55-year-old Brian Miller was driving east on Route 9 at about 3:15 p.m. Monday when he was thrown from his Harley Davidson and down an embankment.

Miller was a member of the Middlefield School Committee and represented the town on the Gateway Regional School Committee.

Cummington Fire Chief Bernard Forgea tells The Daily Hampshire Gazette (http://bit.ly/1dTTcNT ) no other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the accident, despite reports of a car driving erratically in that area.

The accident remains under investigation.
