NEW YORK (AP) — New York City firefighters were put to the test when an SUV burst into flames on the FDR Drive.

Authorities say the fire happened Thursday afternoon in Manhattan. Officials say a damaged fuel line on the SUV began spewing fuel, sparking a fire on the southbound lanes of the FDR Drive.

Lanes were closed as firefighters battled the vehicle fire near Midtown. Crews used foam to prevent fuel from spreading across the roadway. The blaze was contained by 4:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
