SYDNEY, Australia (AP) _ Toying with a team that's just happy to be in the Olympics, Netherlands easily put away Australia 25-19, 25-17, 25-15 in the second round of men's volleyball Tuesday.
Richard Schuil had 12 kills to lead the Dutch, who converted 62 percent of their kill attempts, compared with 35 percent for Australia.
The Dutch (2-0) are the defending champions, but they haven't played all that well this season. They were the last team to make the 12-team tournament, and are ranked behind seven of the other teams in the world rankings.
Netherlands already has beaten one of those teams, Cuba, and will go against another, Brazil, on Thursday. If the Dutch pass that test, they should run the table in the relatively weak Group A, with Egypt and Spain ahead.
The Aussies (0-2) play Spain next, but they might have to wait until next Monday's match with Egypt for a chance at their first Olympic victory.
