MADRID (AP) — The city of Madrid is divided, in football terms anyway.
Real Madrid, a team that symbolizes Spanish royalty and affluence, will play Atletico Madrid, a working-class club that usually sits in the shadow of its giant neighbor, on Saturday in the Champions League final.
It is the first time two clubs from the same city will meet for the biggest prize in European football.
The following is a collection of portraits of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid fans.
"Don't make me pose next to an Atletico fan, eh?" — Real Madrid supporter Jose Labella, a 56-year-old Spaniard who has been a club member for 25 years.
"I cried when we won the league." — Atletico Madrid supporter Jose Ramon Huerta Martinez, a 45-year-old waiter from Madrid.
"I am not wearing a Real Madrid shirt or a scarf but I always wear a club medallion." — Real Madrid supporter Manuela Escobar, 42.
"Where will this be published? I am going to be famous in the U.S." — Atletico Madrid supporter Mohammed Edjaba, 19.
"We are not club members but we wanted to see this." — Real Madrid supporter Rocio Perez, a 21-year-old Mexican who attended a match at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
"If you want me to stop laughing and put on a serious face, tell me that Diego Costa has got injured." — Atletico Madrid supporter Josue Jimenez Munoz, 21.
"Everyone in the family are Real Madrid supporters." — Real Madrid supporter Aaron Castillo Garrido, 28, posing with 4-year-old Nerea Castillo Garcia.
