THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) _ Western Gas Equity Partners L.P. (WGP) on Tuesday reported second-quarter earnings of $67.6 million.

On a per-share basis, the The Woodlands, Texas-based company said it had profit of 31 cents.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 43 cents per share.

The oil and gas transportation and storage company posted revenue of $435.9 million in the period.

Western Gas Equity shares have increased 1 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $37.57, a fall of 11 percent in the last 12 months.
