SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ Missael Espinoza's goal 35 seconds into the game was all the San Jose Clash needed to beat the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on Sunday in Major League Soccer.

Eric Wynalda started the winning play with a corner kick to John Doyle, who headed it to Espinoza. The Clash goal broke a 193-minute scoring drought.

The Clash (13-13) are fourth in the Western Conference, seven points ahead of Colorado (10-18).

San Jose had a chance to increase its lead, but came short several times when the ball hit the crossbar. Colorado's best scoring opportunity came in the 64th minute, when a header by Ed Pinon hit the post.
