Convicted sex offender sentenced to 20 years for teen's rape
Feb. 16, 2018
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a runaway teenager in Eugene.
The Register Guard reports Friday that 43-year-old Shawn Lee Scott Resler entered the plea Thursday in Lane County.
Court records say he picked up the girl and her friend in downtown Eugene last summer and provided them with marijuana and alcohol.
Police say he then took the girls to a local park and raped the victim, who was under age 16.
Resler was released from prison in 2013 after serving six years for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.
Resler did not speak in court and attorneys declined to discuss the case.
