BOSTON (AP) — The NBA Finals will be a "three-match." Cleveland will battle Golden State for the NBA championship for the third year in a row, after the Cavaliers eliminated the Celtics last night in Boston, 135-102. LeBron James scored 35 points and passed Michael Jordan to become the NBA's all-time playoff scoring leader. Kyrie Irving added 24 points and Kevin Love finished with 15 for the Cavs, who never trailed and led by as many as 39 points. Game 1 of the finals is next Thursday.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins are returning to the Stanley Cup finals after beating the Ottawa Senators in a 3-2 Game 7 win that went to double overtime. Pittsburgh will face the Nashville Predators in the finals, which start Monday. The Penguins can become the first team to win back-to-back Stanley Cups since the 1997 and '98 Detroit Red Wings.
PARIS (AP) — Petra Kvitova (kuh-VIHT'-oh-vuh) says she will make her comeback at the French Open, less than six months after being attacked by a knife-wielding intruder. Kvitova has missed all season while recovering from surgery on her racket-holding left hand in December. She was injured during an attack at her home in the Czech Republic. The two-time Wimbledon champion says she is able to play, although she still lacks power and strength. The tournament starts Sunday.
PARIS (AP) — Rafael Nadal could face Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich) in the semifinals of the French Open as he tries for a 10th title at Roland Garros. The 14-time Grand Slam champion was drawn in the same half as Djokovic, the defending champion. Defending women's champion Garbine Muguruza (GAHR'-been moo-guh-ROO'-zuh) faces a tough first-round match against 2010 champion Francesca Schiavone (fran-CHES'-kuh skee-ah-VOH'-nay).
STERLING, Va. (AP) — Larry Mize has tied Bernhard Langer (LAHN'-gur) for the lead at the Senior PGA Championship after a first-round 65 at Trump National in Virgina. Mize was 5 under through 10 holes when play was halted yesterday evening because of thunderstorms. He added three more birdies and a bogey this morning. Langer is trying to win a record ninth senior major.
