ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Oakland infielder Olmedo Saenz, who hasn't played since Sept. 1, is expected to rejoin the Athletics on Saturday and start against the Texas Rangers.

Saenz hasn't played since striking out as a pinch-hitter because of a sprained left-middle finger.

After going 2-for-6 with two doubles in an instructional league game in Arizona on Friday, the A's want to see if Saenz will be ready for the playoffs.

In 66 games, Saenz is hitting .276. He was hitting .305 at the All-Star break, but is 10-for-47 (.213) in 21 games since then.
