OXFORD, Miss. (AP) _ Ansu Sesay scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 21 Mississippi, playing a season opener as a ranked team for the first time, beat Louisiana Tech 88-56 on Wednesday night.
Sesay made 8-of-11 shots from the field to lead four Ole Miss returning starters scoring in double figures. Keith Carter finished with 15 points, including four 3-pointers, while Anthony Boone had 14 points and Jason Smith 10.
Ole Miss took command right away, jumping to a 15-3 lead as preseason All-Southeastern Conference pick Sesay scored seven points in a 12-0 run. During the same stretch, Louisiana Tech (0-2) made just one of its first 16 shots, a tip-in.
The Rebels led 35-22 at halftime, and then opened the second half with an 11-1 run. Carter had eight consecutive points as the Rebels pushed their lead to 46-26.
Louisiana Tech was led by Derek Smith's 16 points. Three players fouled out of the game for the Bulldogs, who shot just 32 percent (20-of-63).
Next up for Mississippi is No. 18 Temple on Saturday, a rematch of a first-round NCAA tournament game that the Owls won 62-40 last year.
