Skaggs' Son Recovering After Coma
Feb. 05, 2001
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ One of Ricky Skaggs' children is recovering after slipping into a coma, a spokeswoman for the country singer's record company said Monday.
Skaggs' son Andrew, 21, fell into a coma last week, forcing the singer to cancel a concert at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., on Friday. He since has regained consciousness.
``He was seriously ill and it was a critical situation,'' said Maureen Miller, publicist for Skaggs Family Records. ``Ricky needed to be with his son.''
Miller would not give more details, but said Andrew Skaggs, the oldest of four children, was being treated at a hospital in Lexington, Ky.
Skaggs, a seven-time Grammy winner, will reschedule concert dates he missed at Purdue and in Fish Creek, Wis., Miller said.
