Nov. 03, 2017
LEXINGTON, Miss. (AP) — U.S. Marshals have arrested the man suspected of shooting into a house and injuring a 9-year-old boy in Mississippi.
Craig Thomas, the ex-boyfriend of the child's mother, was arrested Friday in Jackson.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March says the boy, identified as Jared Tyler, suffered fractured bones after being shot in the arm, shoulder and hand. March says the boy underwent two surgeries and remains hospitalized after being shot early Tuesday, but his injuries aren't life-threatening.
March said at the time of the shooting the child's mother had a lifetime protective order against the man.
This story has been corrected to show shooting happened Tuesday morning.
