PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Defenseman Andrew Ference, a restricted free agent, accepted the Pittsburgh Penguins' qualifying offer Wednesday, agreeing to a two-way contract and that will pay him $440,000 _ a 10 percent raise from a year ago _ in the NHL or $80,000 in the minors.

Ference spent last season with the Penguins after splitting the previous two seasons between Pittsburgh and the AHL. He had four goals, seven assists, 73 penalty minutes and a minus-12 rating in 75 games last season.

The Penguins still have seven unsigned restricted free agents, including three who filed for arbitration.
