HYDERABAD, India (AP) _ A building under construction in southern Andhra Pradesh state collapsed Saturday, killing at least 20 construction workers, police said.

The workers were laying the roof of the building in Karepally, a remote coastal village in Khammam district, 160 miles east of the state capital, Hyderabad, when the scaffolding collapsed.

At least 50 laborers were working on the roof at the time, police said. Rescuers managed to pull seven workers from the debris. No other details were immediately available.
