LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Former teen idol Frankie Avalon has sued the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills for alleged unauthorized use of his name in its promotional literature.

Avalon, star of such 1960s teen movies as ``Beach Blanket Bingo,'' claimed in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that advertising containing the words ``Frankly, Avalon'' and using a model resembling him damaged his reputation and his market value.

Avalon, 59, seeks at least $350,000 in damages.

A telephone message left Wednesday for Olga Sanchez, the hotel's spokeswoman and director of marketing, wasn't immediately returned.
