U.S. women's national team midfielder Megan Rapinoe strained a ligament in her right knee and will miss the rest of the team's January training camp.

Rapinoe, who has scored 29 goals in 96 international matches, is expected to be sidelined for several weeks, U.S. Soccer said.

The team has been training in Carson, California, in preparation for a pair of matches in Europe next month, and beyond that, the Women's World Cup, which starts in June.

Rapinoe also plays for the NWSL's Seattle Reign, which opens the season in April.
