Rendell Is Pa. Democratic Nominee

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Running on his record as Philadelphia mayor, pro-business liberal Ed Rendell won the Democratic nomination for governor Tuesday with a solid victory over conservative Robert Casey Jr.
With 83 percent of precincts reporting, Rendell had 558,274 votes, or 55 percent, and Casey had 457,229 votes, or 45 percent. The winner advances to the November general election against Attorney General Mike Fisher, who was unopposed in the Republican primary.
