LONDON (AP) _ Linda McCartney, who died of cancer last month at 56, will be honored in a June 8 memorial service in central London.

Sir Paul McCartney's office said Thursday the service for his wife will be held at 8:30 p.m. in St. Martin in the Fields church on Trafalgar Square.

The service is for close friends and family, but animal welfare groups and other people who wish to honor Linda McCartney plan to gather in the square for an informal candlelight tribute at the same time, the office said.

Many people sent condolences after Linda McCartney's death April 19 in Arizona, and the family said it was placing ads in newspapers to thank them.
