NORFOLK Va. (AP) _ Mike Jones scored 21 points Wednesday, including a 3-pointer that sparked a 10-0 second-half rally, as Old Dominion beat North Carolina-Wilmington 79-66.
The Monarchs (6-8, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) led 36-29 at the half. Wilmington (6-6, 0-2) pulled to within 54-51 with 8:54 remaining on a pair of free throws by Bill Mayew.
Jones then hit a 3-pointer that launched the Monarchs on a 10-0 run and a 64-51 lead with 4:13 left. Wilmington never got the lead to less than nine points the remainder of the game.
Petey Sessoms had 16 points for the Monarchs, and Duffy Samuels added 11.
Corey Stewart led Wilmington with 20 points.
