Baseball Donates $1M to Red Cross

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Major league baseball will contribute $1 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to help the countries recovery from Hurricane Georges.
``All of major league baseball is deeply saddened by the loss of life and terrible damage inflicted on the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico by Hurricane Georges,'' commissioner Bud Selig said. ``With great regard to the many players with homes and loved ones in those areas, we gladly offer assistance.''
