ST. MATTHEWS, Ky. (AP) _ A minivan with a 9-year-old girl alone inside crashed into a video store Thursday, killing one man and injuring another.

The girl, whose name was not released, was with her mother inside a Blockbuster Video store and asked to go outside to the minivan, police said.

Police said the mother gave the girl the keys and was inside the store at the time of the crash.

The van backed up and hit a tree and curb before accelerating forward into the store, said Sgt. William Fitzgerald of the police department in St. Matthews, a Louisville suburb.

Authorities did not know if the van's ignition was on when it crashed.

A 21-year-old man inside the store was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old man also inside the store was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
