MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say some middle school students have been arrested on suspicion of falsely reporting an active-shooter incident at their school, prompting a campus lockdown.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the lockdown lasted about an hour Tuesday at Vista Verde Middle School. The street in front of the Moreno Valley campus was closed during a search of the grounds.
Sheriff's officials did not say how many students were arrested Wednesday. The students were released to the custody of their parents, and charges will be filed for review by the county's juvenile probation unit.
