Former company executive back behind bars

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — The former president and chief financial officer of a Connecticut-based equipment rental company who has already spent time in prison for falsifying company records, is back behind bars for violating terms of his supervised release.
Federal prosecutors say 58-year-old John Milne, former president of Stamford-based United Rentals Inc., was sentenced in 2010 to more than two years in prison and ordered to pay more than $5 million after he was convicted.
But prosecutors say since his release from prison in May 2012, Milne, of Westport, has only paid about $500,000 despite the ability and opportunity to pay more. He also violated terms of his release by leaving the state without permission from federal probation officials. Those violations earned him an extra two years in prison.
