VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Police have released the names of two people stabbed to death in an apparently unprovoked attack in Vancouver early Sunday.

The Columbian reports that 42-year-old Thomas West and 55-year-old James Olsen were killed in the courtyard of the Central Park Place Apartments, where they lived. It's a transitional housing facility for people who are low-income, homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Investigators say 35-year-old Dustin Lee Zapel, another resident, told them he was lying in bed at about 1:30 a.m. when he decided to kill people, and that he then went outside and attacked the men. They say surveillance video shows him stabbing Olsen in the head and torso.

Zapel was arrested about seven hours later following a manhunt.

A judge on Monday set his bail at $3 million. Zapel's lawyer did not immediately return a call seeking comment Tuesday.
