England cricketer Stokes to appear in court on Feb. 13
Jan. 18, 2018
BRISTOL, England (AP) — England allrounder Ben Stokes will appear in court on Feb. 13 following a violent incident outside a nightclub.
That is the same date as England's opening Twenty20 international against New Zealand, for which the England and Wales Cricket Board said Stokes would be available.
Avon and Somerset Police said Thursday that two men, who have also been charged in the same incident, will appear with Stokes at Bristol Magistrates' Court.
Stokes hasn't played for England since the incident in Bristol, southwest England, in September. He could receive a jail term if convicted.
Stokes was initially suspended by his country while he was being investigated by police. He was charged by prosecutors on Monday, after which England said Stokes was free to resume his international career because there was no date set for his court case.
