LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) _ Jamal Kendrick, a junior forward from Detroit, has been suspended indefinitely from the New Mexico State basketball team, the school announced Tuesday.

New Mexico State officials said Kendrick had an unexcused absence from practice last Friday. He did not dress for games against Western New Mexico on Saturday and Northwestern State on Monday.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Kendrick played in the Aggies' first two games and averaged 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.

Kendrick transferred to New Mexico State from Gulf Coast Junior College in Panama City, Fla., where he averaged 24 points and 14 rebounds a game last season.
