Apr. 12, 2018
RENO, Nev. (AP) — An early spring storm dumped more than a half-foot of snow (15 centimeters) on the mountains around Lake Tahoe as a fast-moving front pushed unseasonably cold temperatures below freezing across much of northern Nevada.
The National Weather Service said 8 inches (20 cm) of new snow was recorded early Thursday at the Sierra at Tahoe ski resort south of Tahoe.
Six inches (15 cm) fell at Northstar near Truckee, California, at Squaw Valley north of Tahoe City, California and at the Homewood resort on the lake's west shore. Four inches (10 cm) was reported at the Mount Rose Ski Resort on the edge of Reno.
High temperatures were forecast to hover in the low- to mid-40s around Reno Thursday, dipping to a low of 27 overnight before warming back into the 50s on Friday. Saturday's high should reach 70.
