FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — An Easton man is heading to prison after pleading guilty to assaulting and raping a woman in her trailer in July 2013.
The Sun Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1VWIDiZ ) reports that 29-year-old Adam Gomm was sentenced to serve 20 to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated rape, breaking and entering and related offenses.
Bristol District Attorney Thomas Quinn III announced the sentence Wednesday and praised the victim for her courage in the face of threats from the defendant.
Authorities say Gomm broke into the trailer and raped her before hitting her several times in the head and shoulder with a hammer.
Prosecutors say he sent a letter to the victim in May telling her that if she didn't drop the charges, he'd kill her and her family.
