Simon To Defend WBO Crown
Jan. 09, 2001
WIDNES, England (AP) _ Undefeated Harry Simon of Namibia will defend his WBO light middleweight title against Puerto Rico's Daniel Santos on Feb. 10 at Kingsway Center.
Simon, 20-0, with 15 knockouts, retained his title with a unanimous decision over No. 1 contender Rodney Jones in Canada on Sept. 23.
Santos, 24-2-1, with 19 KOs, is relinquishing his WBO welterweight crown to step up a division to challenge Simon. In his most recent fight, Santos knocked out Neil Sinclair in the second round of their bout in Sheffield, England, last month.
The Simon-Santos fight, announced by the promoters on Tuesday, is to be televised on Showtime.
