Bond Prices Mixed at Midday

NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were mixed at midday Thursday.
The price of the Treasury's 10-year note was down 1/16 point, or $0.625 per $1,000 in face value, around midday Thursday, while its yield rose to 4.03 percent from 4.02 percent late Wednesday. Prices and yields usually move in opposite directions.
The 30-year bonds were up 3/16 point and yielded 4.90 percent, down from 4.91 percent late Wednesday, according to Moneyline Telerate.
The price of two-year Treasury notes was unchanged, while the yield rose to 1.75 percent from 1.71 percent late Wednesday.
One-month Treasury bills were unchanged, yielding 1.17 percent with a discount of 1.15 percent. Yields on three-month Treasury bills rose to 1.17 percent as the discount held steady at 1.15 percent. Six-month yields were unchanged at 1.20 percent as the discount fell 0.01 percentage point to 1.17 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
