CHICAGO (AP) _ The Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of catcher Jamie Burke from Triple-A Charlotte and optioned right-hander Matt Ginter to the minor league team Friday.

The move was made to fill the absence of catcher Miguel Olivo, who is day-to-day with a sore right shoulder. Olivo left Tuesday night's game against the Royals after he tripped over Brent Mayne's leg and landed on his throwing shoulder.

Burke was hitting .328 (83-for-253) with five home runs and 42 RBIs in 77 games for Charlotte.

Ginter allowed five earned runs in 3 1-3 relief innings for the White Sox.
