HAMILTON, Ga. (AP) _ A military helicopter crashed today in a rural section of west Georgia, killing two Marines, officials said.
The Cobra attack helicopter from the New River Marine Corps Air Station crashed in a wooded area about 10:25 a.m., said Cpl. Brian Willian, a spokesman at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany.
The New River station is at Jacksonville, N.C., some 450 miles to the east. Willian did not know why the helicopter was in Georgia.
The crash site is in the western part of Harris County near Hamilton, about 15 miles northwest of Columbus, according to the county sheriff's office.
