ATLANTA (AP) _ Brothers Peter and Chris Ferraro led a five-goal run early in the second period Thursday as the Atlanta Knights defeated the Soviet Wings 7-3 in the opening game of the Russians' 17-city tour of the International Hockey League.
Peter Ferraro had a goal and two assists and Chris Ferraro a goal and an assist in the flurry that wiped out the Wings' 3-0 lead after one period.
Chris Ferraro score on a power play at 1:42 and Jeff Toms blasted in a 25- footer at 3:46 to make it 3-2.
Cory Cross tied it 14 seconds later and Peter Ferraro gave the Knights the lead at 7:12. Stan Drulia made it 5-3 on a rebound at 7:55.
Atlanta improved to 6-2-1 with its fourth win in five games. All the Wings' games count in the standings.
Alexander Korolyuk and Dmitri Gogolev led the two-time Russian national champions with a goal and two assists apiece.
Ilja Stashenkov had a goal and an assist.
Derek Mayer and Jason Ruff added third period goals for Atlanta. Ruff extended his goal-scoring streak to six games.
Atlanta rookie goalie Derek Wilkinson, who leads the IHL with a 1.85 goals against average, improved to 4-0-1. He shut out the Wings over the final 44 minutes.
Wings goalie Andrei Karpin, who has allowed only 2.26 goals a game for a team leading its 14-team division with an 11-5-3 record, was the loser.
The Wings dominated the first period. Korolyuk beat Wilkinson from the side for a power play goal at 4:57. Stashenkov drilled another power play goal at 6:03. Goglev made it 3-0 at 16:20.
