ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — Police in Rochester say 20 people have been arrested after the city's annual Puerto Rican Festival ended.
Authorities say officers along with city firefighters moved from one hot spot to another Sunday night to disperse crowds, break up impromptu parades and put out a couple of garbage can fires in various neighborhoods. Rochester Police Chief Michael Ciminelli's office said in a statement that rocks and bottles were thrown at officers throughout the night.
The city's annual festival to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage has seen disturbances and arrests following the final night of the celebration.
The 20 people arrested are due in court Monday morning on charges ranging from assault to driving while intoxicated and other traffic-related offenses.
