LARCHMONT, N.Y. (AP) _ Dr. Meyer C. Molinsky, the father of comedian Joan Rivers, has died of heart failure at his Westchester County home. He was 83.
Molinsky, who died Tuesday, had been ailing since September, Richard Grant, a spokesman for Miss Rivers, said by telephone from Los Angeles.
Molinsky, who immigrated to the United States from Russia as a child, was a Larchmont resident for 35 years, Grant said.
Molinsky received his medical degree from Long Island College of Medicine and had been affiliated with Beth Israel Hospital in New York, Grant said. He had also practiced general medicine in Brooklyn and Queens.
Molinsky is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters Miss Rivers and Barbara Waxler; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in Larchmont.
Miss Rivers has canceled all appearances for this week, but will serve as host on ''The Tonight Show'' next week as scheduled, Grant said.
