Weyerhaeuser Considers a Change
Mar. 30, 1999
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) _ Weyerhaeuser Co. executives are considering the sale of composite product operations that generated $116 million in net sales last year.
The decision will depend on a review of four Weyerhaeuser mills that produce particleboard and medium density fiberboard in Adel, Ga., Moncure, N.C., and Springfield, Ore. The mills employ 550 people.
Spokesman Bruce Amundson said the composite product operations represent a small part of Weyerhaeuser's business. He would not say whether the mills had been profitable.
No timetable for a decision or potential sale of the business was announced.
Weyerhaeuser, predominantly a forest product company, recorded total sales of $10.8 billion in 1998.
